Semiotic representations of degrowth movement
The research group investigates sustainable models for future and looks at semiotics aspects of degrowth movement. From the viewpoint of semiotics, the main question of ecological crises is how to support the eco-cultures and bring meaning back to the world we share with other species. Climate crises can’t be viewed without consideration of society and culture – the crises we face today is also a crises of culture. The central thought around which the transition to degrowth can be rooted in, is the understanding that meaning derives primarily from semiotic participation in ecologies we live in (cultural, social and natural).
